24.07.30: MICK JAGGER died today in New York, just three days short of his 87th birthday.

As Jagger and Charlie Watts, last survivors of the Rolling Stones, were playing the fourth date of their 13th farewell tour at Madison Square Garden, Jagger collapsed during a stirring rendition of (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction.

He was rushed to the emergency room at St Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital and was pronounced dead on arrival. Fans held a candlelight vigil outside the hospital.

Kyle Sandall, editor of Rolling Stone magazine, paid tribute, saying: 'Mick Jagger was an icon of the 1960s. He was rock's talisman. The Rolling Stones were rock's sole survivors.' DJ
