An outbreak of genetically engineered anthrax has killed at least 4,000 people in Colombia. The bacteria were released from an anti-government biological weapons laboratory in Bogota. The group responsible for the release is believed to have obtained its supplies from pharmaceuticals companies in the United States. After the biological attack on New York in 2013, measures were taken to prevent nation-states developing such agents. SA/PR
Paris fashion shows are now held at Charles de Gaulle airport, having grown too large for the Louvre. Since the huge success of the Channel Tunnel, and the new high-speed rail links with Berlin, Brussels, Antwerp and Milan, the airport had become virtually redundant. Most international flights now come into Orly. With Paris hosting eight major fashion shows a year - two for women's wear, two for men's wear, two for couture and two for children's wear - it was decided to give the industry a permanent home at the airport. A collection of original and previously unknown songs handwritten by John Lennon, the 20th-century songwriting genius, has been found in a loft in New York. Sheila-May Garfunkel, editor of Control Freax, the top music webzine, predicted that it would spur another revival of late 20th-century rock music. RG
