The Channel Islands have voted to secede from Britain and join France, following London's decision to end all offshore privileges and require islanders to pay taxes at the same rate as the rest of Britain. The Inland Revenue and Customs and Excise would have had access to all personal, company and banking records for the past 30 years. France said it would also end the islands' off-shore status but would not seek to investigate past records.
