  • Work has finally started on the central London levitron system. Replacing the crumbling Tube lines will be a robust and low-cost electromagnetically driven transport system that will change the face of high-speed travel. Levitron will provide access points and public pods (lifts that travel in all directions) in the street and within office complexes.   • After more than two decades of debate, Pope Joseph has decreed that married men may be ordained. Celibacy will not be removed from Catholic church teaching but it is likely to become optional. Unlike the ban on the ordination of women priests, which as a 'definitive' teaching cannot be overturned, celibacy has never been part of Catholic dogma. It became binding only in the 12th century.   • The growth of teleworking centres is helping the environment. As the number of commuters continues to drop, emissions of greenhouse gases in large cities have fallen significantly, according to a Greenpeace report. With half the country's workforce operating away from the office, the telework centre offers affordable desk space and access to technology, plus the social contact that home workers often miss. SC
