  • The Millennium Dome was crammed to capacity for the Back from the Dead concert by ageing rap star Sugar Bo, who has been saved from terminal cancer of the pancreas. A year ago, he was given six months to live, but a tailor-made cure has removed all signs of the cancer. Doctors at the Beth Israel cancer clinic in Boston grew a culture of Bo's tumour and injected it into mice. They were then able to develop a vaccine.   • The delayed Teledesic satellite system finally went live, more than 10 years late and at double its original budget. The project brings together partners Bill Gates, Boeing and Crown Prince al--Waleed of Saudi Arabia. Made up of 288 satellites and launched into space at the low altitude of 850 miles, the service is the first that will truly connect the world. This means that anyone with a laptop and a satellite dish can log on to the Internet anywhere in the world, instead of depending on cable. SC
